Volleyball try-out tips?

i am 13, and i started playing volleyball 1 year ago. what helped me get into the sport, and really get good, was to go to a recreational vball camp at one of the local high schools.
this is my 1st year in middle school, and i was the only 6th grader to make the vball team at my school. even though u have your serve, keep on working on it. Coaches LOVE a good serve. as for your setting, i can help u a lot...i am a setter. when u first go into practice, tryouts, or a game, warm up your fingers by setting about 6" from a wall.
Good luck!

What should I do to improve my jumping?

work on consistency, accuracy, and aggressiveness.

consistency: as far as serving and hitting, work on consistantly using good form to keep the ball in bounds as much as possible before you turn your focus to aim and power. as far as passing, practice consistantly making good passes to target when the ball is served or hit to you or near you.

accuracy: after you're able to keep the ball in bounds 80% of the time, work on your aim. are you able to direct the ball to different areas of the court? are you able to hit or serve to open areas rather than to a player. practice hitting the lines and the holes on the court. like i said, keeping good form and learning to aim are crucial.

aggressiveness: never EVER let a ball drop near you that you could have gone for. getting a touch on a ball is better than making no effort at all to pass it. during your tryouts, your coaches will really notice this effort at being aggressive. they would rather see you get a bad pass than let the ball hit the ground. while you're being aggressive also make sure to always communicate with team members. call every ball you are going for, every time. also work on your speed. this will help you get to each ball you can and make a good play on it.

as far as setting: instead of setting straight up in the air to practice, stand close to a wall and set up and at an angle so the ball bounces off the wall and back to your hands. these will be quick, short sets, and it will help you get your form down. remember to use stiff hands and push through the ball with your thumbs, not your fingers. once you get the form down better, try setting to a partner. when you do this, make sure to keep your hands right in front of and slightly above your forehead, take one step forward, and push up and forward through your legs as you're extending your arms out. the combination of keeping the hands and ball in front of you with stepping and pushing forward and up will keep the ball going up and forward instead of just straight up.

Have you ever played volleyball when it was raining?

Practice your passing the most. Because that is the first contact of the game it is the most important. The team that doesn't pass well won't get good sets and it gos down hill from there. Stand about 10ft from a wall and serve the ball into the wall hard and pass it where it goes after it bounces back. move there with your feet first and make sure you have a solid flat platform to pass with. As, you get better move back further and further from the wall. Also, play with really good players, find open gyms and get on their teams. Good luck!

Why often the back line hitters attack from the right side of the court?

to strengthen your fingers, set a basketball, then when you go to set an actual volleyball, you can oush it farther because your fingers are stronger..also try to go to some camps over summer..i do atleast five
