Poorly made SkimBoarding Equipment?

Question:Skim boarding isnt the most popular of ocean related sports but alot of people try it and quit because they get poorly made skim boards I have been skim boarding for a while and ive seen Wooden skim boards that dont do very well they are cheap so many people buy them but they dont go very far or fast and sometimes they just dig into the mud. Ive seen very few fiberglass skim boards and the fiberglass ones go faster and fearther why would you buy a poorly made wooden on rather than a quality Fiberglass one

Wooden Skimboard=$50-150
Fiberglass skimboard=$150-350
