Many surf shops have used boards for sale. Also, some surfers bring extra boards to the beach and sometimes have these extras for sale.

Surf shops are your best bet since you can pick up the boards, look at them, feel them, etc.

The above two answers are great. Don't buy a surfbord online. Most surf shops sell them so just go to your local surf shop and see what you want to get. Don't buy online and get stuck with the postage fees to return it if you don't end up liking it. If you have any friend who surf ask around if they let you buy one off of them. Maybe you can find one at a decent price.
