Are you going to be in a boat? I personally prefer river fishing unless I am in a boat. Fishing off a pier and reeling the fishing line in get very tiring very fast. Also, I don't know what state you are in but be sure to check to see if he needs a fishing license. One of the best places to fish is state parks. they usually have places that are easy to get to and that are set up for people that either donot fish alot or that are just getting into it. I personally would recommend taking him to a lake. I was in the same situation and i went to a lake and had a lot of fun. Now, don't overestimate the experience. You should always start a young person out small. Fly fishing was always the easiest way to catch crappies and bluegills when fishing in lakes or rivers. This is a very good way to teach fishing. If you try and teach them how to go for the big ones right away, i notice most young people will get board after about a half hour.
