Thinking about getting in to Kayaking...?

I'm contemplating taking up the hobby of kayaking, but I don't know too much about it. I'm looking for some tips on a decent novice boat, and any advice you might have?

Why are people that play water polo always fat?

Best suggestion I can offer is try it first, before you invest in a boat. You can usually rent a kayak and take a few lessons. The advantage to this is, you'll have a better idea what kind of boat you want. There are many different types of kayaks.
Then make sure you have someone to go with. Kayaking by yourself isn't a good idea.
Have you tried outrigger canoes? They are much easier than kayaks, lots more fun, and you can surf in them, where you can't with kayaks.
Good luck! And keep the open side up!
