How to you ride a wave with a skimboard?
Question:i've been watching skimboarding videos on youtube, and i'm seeing people surfing the waves with their skimboards. the last time i went to the beach, i tried surfing the waves with my skimboard, and it was a complete failure. haha. but, i'm wondering... do you need a specific type of skimboard to surf on the waves?
and do you know where i can get the skimboard grips? i think that's what they're called.
help a brotha out. :]

Why do surfers use those kinda suits ...?
there are certaint types of boardsyou cant skim waves with wooden boards
most used are fiberglass or carbonfiber
or expoy resin
they must have a somesort of a rocker kinda
like a surfboard
traditional rocker is for small wave skiming
and i use a
constant rocker wich is for bigger wave skimming and plowing thru little waves to rap off bigger waves and do aerials.
both are good and get the job done
but constant rockers are harder to come by
the pads you talk about are traction pads
they should be placed as far back on the tail as possible
i place mine far back so i can do ollies on flat land skiming
they also help stablize ballance
but always use surf wax
skimcity.com sells every thing you could possibly need but there board prices are expenisve for beginners
you stand on the shore line a good 3-5 feet back from the ponint where the water recceeds
run fast to the wave !( not head on at an angle)!right before the water receeds
when running jump on your board and slightly turn you should be able to catch waves fairly easily
alot of groms think they are hxc casue they can ride waves
but if you really want to be a good skimboarder with some tallent try practicing aerials
not alot of people can preform them and if you want to win a sponsorship or an Amature competion this is the way
trust me i know
