He's got better places to surf. Doesn't care about the fee he is charged for it... if there are better waves, he's gonna go there. He's confident he isn't going to lose to the second round losers.

Jury is out on why he missed today, but IMO he needs the pressure to get excited about competing or he just doesn't care. Plus, after the Quik Pro Frog he's so far out in front that he's nearly unbeatable in the World Tour. AI has to win everything remaining (with KS placing low) and Taj essentially has to do the same (with KS also placing low, but not quite as low).

Anticlimatic tour this season.

So IMO it doesn't really matter to him if he moves ahead from Round 1 to the Quarters at Mundaka or has to do it from the "losers round" (round 2).

He missed the other, earlier event (Fiji?) due to injury he got a Teahupoo.
