His average speed is distance divided by timeDiving : any good tips for your ears?
You need to add under what conditions such as Olympic races, short races, sustained running or shoe addicts running to a shoe sale possibly also adding having a crocodile behind them might increase adrenalin flow. The fastest men alive are reported to have run about 4.5 minute miles the fastest world record was less than 4 minutes for the mile but the average is much less. Boston Marathons, NY marathons people come from all over the world to run these average about 15 mph maybe 14mph.

My viewpoint is that it is related to the height, experience, strength, endurance and capabilty of a person. A world class athlete is 5 minute miles. In Africa there are many tribes who run all over Africa at very high rates of speed that they sustain for days. So what is average is dependent upon the group whom you are speaking about.
You can always find online the arguments about Bears and Crocodiles outrunning humans or comparisons of their speeds. My opinion is just avoid such areas they are in because they can go very fast in short bursts of speed and depend greatly upon the element of surprise. Surprise you are in bear/croc country and one is about to have you for dinner?

What is the fastest recorded speed attained by a running human in miles per
hour?
World record: 100m dash, Tim Montgomery (just recently edged out Maurice "Mo" Green's time), at about 23 mph average speed (sprinters can hit ~27 mph at peak instantaneous speed).

What is the fastest recorded speed attained by a running human in miles per
hour for the distance it would take to evade a predator?
Actual situations with predators? I don't know; such data are presumably very sparse. I would assume it's ~15 mph as I doubt many Olympic sprinters have been timed that way.
Theoretically, I don't know either; would depend on distance, turning ability, predator speed, etc.

Most crocodiles can achieve speeds of around 12 to 14 kph for short periods, which is somewhat slower than a fit human can run. Don't believe the hype - if you're reasonably fit, you can definitely outrun a crocodile! Even faster are galloping crocodiles, and Australian freshwater crocodiles have been clocked at just over 17 kph over distances of perhaps 20 to 30 metres before they begin to tire. In these cases, the crocodile is running away from a threat - only certain extinct species of terrestrial crocodyliforms regularly hunted using a similar gait, which perhaps explains its origins.

When you are walking at a normal pace,
that speed is about 3 or 4 miles per hour. When running, it's twice as
fast, 6 to 8 m.p.h. The fastest humans run almost 30 m.p.h. in the 100
meter dash.
4 mile per hour.
