A question for all surfer dudes!?
i learned on a short board and i turned out just fineWho in here love the dallas mavericks as much as me?
You could, I did.But then again, you need consistent waves.
And being from Hawaii we got um' all the time.
Wear can i learn to surf in FL.? i need some advice too!?
Yes it is possible to learn on a short board. However you will make much quicker progress if you start on a slightly longer board e.g if you are 6ft then try learning on a 7'8+ then later on you can drop down sizes fairly easily. Many learners who start on a shortboard often give up surfing due to frustration. At the end of the day you can always sell the longer board to fund a shorter board. (coincidently shortboards do not hold their value nearly as well as longboards / funboards. There is always an endles stream of good second hand shortboards floating around the same cant be said about the other).I have a 1965 crestliner v bottom need a drain plug!!!?
Yes, you can. But better if you start on longer boards.SCUBA? How much would you pay for an all inclusive training program?
Of course this totally depends on other factors such as your athletic ability, where you're learning to surf (conditions), how much time you have, instructor, etc. I learned to surf on a short board, on my own in San Francisco, which is painful considering the water is cold and conditions are harsh. So yes, it can be done, I would just advise having a good instructor, more gentle conditions, and a longer board, as that would have been more helpful.Do you have any different ideas of any OUTSIDE WATER BALLOON GAMES?
It all depends on where you live, and how crowded it is. If you are in Malibu, or southern Cal. you can, but just be prepared to get clobbered from time to time (Longboarders catch the waves from further in, while shortboarders have to wait for a nice drop). You will also have to wait for a nice set, can catch anything to small because it will not give you momentum. Hope that helps.Who is afraid of getting water in your eye??
Start with a funboard. You'll have a great wave catcher that still lets you turn. You won't need to worry going from a 9' to a 6'x" board since you're already 1/2 way there. I've taught a few people how to surf and I personally prefer to start them on a 7-8 fun board if they really plan on sticking to surfing. If you just want to try it on vacation to see if you can stand up - then go with a 9'+ longboard - you'll stand up for sure.More Questions & Answers...
