Traditionally, the core of a surfboard is made of a poly-foam. Two pieces of foam are glued to a stringer, a piece of wood running the length of the board to give it strength and stability. The "blank" is then shaped by shaving the foam. Once the shape desired is achieved, fiberglasss and resin is put around the board to seal the foam. Skegs are placed and the board is sanded and buffed.
