Are the traction pads on a Skimboard the same as on a Surf Board?

I want to know if I have to look for a specific brand or type of traction pad for my skimboard or I should just grab a surf brand and stick it in my skimboard?

They are the same. Just go to your local surf shop and find one that fits your board the best. I personally like to use ones that have a raised back edge for performing tricks and aerials. Wax always works well but if you want to take your skimming to the next level, a traction pad is a must.

They are all the same. I would look for a thin one though. Your not looking for as much traction on a skim versus a surf board. Grab what ever you want but not super thick.
