Well, it all depends on which beach and at what time! If it's the sun your after then the evening is not the best time to go - it is less crowded though!If your looking for a nice 'blue Flag' beach then go to http://www.blueflag.org.uk/map.asp... to check out what's good and what's not (I'd avoid the Firth of Forth, it'll be a bit wiffy at the minute).
Best beach by far though would be Studland Bay in Dorset and that would get my recommendation, I can't come down to the beach tomorrow though as I have to work - if you do get away then enjoy and 'slip, slap, slop' to avoid the big C.
