What's the best sailing dingy under 17ft?
Looking for a used boat. Criteria: 1. must be able to step mast, trailer & sail single handed. 2. Must accomodate 1-3 additional crew. 3.positive boyancy & fairly easily righted after a knock-down. What about any of these: Chrysler Mutineer, Precision 15, Vangard 15, Vagabond 14, Catalina 14.2 or 16.5, JY 15, others?

Find out what the local racing fleets are sailing. Buying one of those designs makes the boat easier to sell when you want to get rid of it. And if racing intrigues you, it is a great way to improve your sailing skills and get into a sailing community. Of the boats you list, I would pick the Vanguard 15 as the design seems to be catching on. A Laser is a great boat for singlehanding, marginal for doublehanding (and only if you are willing to be physically intimate with your crew), and forget it for more than two.
