i live by the wedge, you get off newport blv. and look for the balboa peir, and you keep on moving your way down until you get to the wedge,Have you ever kayaked on a lake when there was still a film of ice left?

Its just north of the of the Jetty where Newport bay empties into the ocean. You can body surf or boogie board there but you cant surf. It breaks in way too shallow water to surf. A lot if people have snapped thier necks cause whebn they go down the go headfirst into the sand. If your surfing instead of on a body board I d go just north to the River Jetties. Between newport and huntington beach. The Wedge does get huge though. Ive seen it breaking almost as high as the electrical wires on top of the jetty(20+ feet) during a storm but its super high risk.
