How stable is a pontoon boat ?

my wife is used to be on a boat, i iwll like ot have apontoon boat for the family, is it safe or really bad in rough water... like 5-6' swell. on a lake

If you frequent lakes that actually have 5 to 6 foot swells, the pontoon style boat is not usually powerful enough or nimble enough to navigate these waters reliably.
