Skiing or Snowboarding? (Please read!)?

I know there are lots of questions like this, but most are people who are going be able to for a week or more. I'm going to a resort for ONE or TWO days, so which one should I do? I'd like to go snowboarding, but I don't know if I'll be able get anywhere in a day. Tubing is also an option, and I know it's fun and I've done it before. Which one should I do?

Cold Hands While Skiing?

I sucked at skiing the one time I went for a 3-day trip, but I loved snowboarding from the moment I strapped in. It is hard your first day, and I highly recommend taking a lesson when you first arrive at the resort. Definitely snowboard if you have ever been surfing or ridden a skateboard. How good is your sense of balance? That is the one thing that will really help you out. You can get ready at home before you go by practicing squatting - bend your knees to a ~45-degree angle and raise your heels to stand on the balls of your feet and toes. Try to keep your knees in line with your toes and your butt over your heels - this helps you maintain a low center of gravity. Hold your arms out around the center of your torso, between your shoulders and your waist, and practice turning your upper body without moving your legs. If you feel comfortable doing these things and can maintain your balance, then snowboarding is probably right for you. You can also practice the squatting position to build up strength in your legs so that you won't get tired as quickly. Also practice shifting from your toes to your heels as you will have to do this to turn. Your knees may straighten some, but keep your upper body in the same place as much as you can. It's important to keep your torso in the same place over the snowboard, because leaning in one direction or the other will cause you to fall. If you do fall, don't catch yourself on your hands (a difficult reflex to avoid) because you could break your wrist. Just let your butt catch you - it's better to have a sore tush than having to wear a cast. But at least you won't blow out your knee or break your leg like you could on skis. :) Most importantly, keep a good attitude when you are learning and don't give up!

Last year model skiis on ebay for same price.should I bid on Rossignol Free ZB3 or Dynsastar NOVA?

I went snowboarding for a day and it was awesome! Even though it was really hard and i fell alot i thought it was well worth it. You'll be able to ski when your old but i dont think you'll be able to snowboard. So try it out. It like nothing else.

When is french ski week? what date?

I have 8 years of skiing - not every day, 2 weeks every year.
But If you have on line rollers or like skating on ice, skiing is for you.
If you know how to ride a skateboard or a surf, the snowboard is for you.

Does anyone have any tips on snowboarding?!?

Try both at some point. Some people are wired for one or the other - some people can handle both naturally (the rest of us hate them but they exist). I can't ski to save my life but snowboarding came easy to me (after a lesson or two). My girlfriend can ski but can't snowboard at all.

I like boarding because there are fewer edges to keep track of and it feels more fluid and less choppy going down the mountain.

You might also consider Snow blades/Big Feet - they are short, wide skis that are typically used without poles. They are far more forgiving than full length skis for beginners.

Get some lessons either way.

Dose any one have a logo for the Mid Michigan Storm Varsity Hockey team. Or know a website where I can get one

I think you should try snowboarding, it'll be fun. At first, it will hard and you might fall a few times, but after that, it will be easy and you will learn from you your mistakes. You will have a lot fun.

Hope you have fun and hope you chose snowboarding. :)
