Why snowblades (the shorter skis) are so unpopular among skiers?

Question:i have been skiing for 6 years and have recently discovered snowblading, and found that they are easier and i can maneuvre better. overall, im more confident in them and think my moves are smoother. so i fell in love with them and think not going back to skiing again. could u please tell me why they are so unpopular among skiing population? is it the fact that its for fun and its not professional? but im not a professional skier and do it for fun only!
Thanx!!

Snow day pack...?

Snow Blades can be very fun and are normally more common on the east coast. Snow Blades don't work very well in powder because their little base sinks into any powder, thus the reason why you don't see many snow blades out west where powder is more abundant. Another problem I sometimes have with snow blades is with balance in the park. With the blades being so short your balance has to be perfect. If you are leaning forward or backward the result upon landing will not be good. So basically snow blades are great for all mountain cruising and making very short turns, but will struggle in large amounts of fresh powder and in the park.

Snowboard recommendations?

I am a Skier and I like snowblades too. Its all just personal preference. I have heard there is more accidents with ski blades. I skated long before i skied, maybe thats why I like snowblades better!

What size snowboard should I get...?

well if you are using them for jumps then i guess its okay. some skiers dont like it when people ski on snowblades just for fun because it looks really weird and its kind of like cheating i guess because its easier. also its really easy to get injured when you are wearing snowblades because they dont pop off when you fall like regular skis. last year my brother did a 360 on snowblades right before march break. he fell tore his knee and couldnt ski when we went on a ski trip for the break. he hasnt used them since so i wouldnt recommend using snowblades because they are more dangerous than skiis.

Snobbishness.

What is a good way to get rid of old skis?

Its all personal preference but i think many skiers don't like it because there isn't really any challenge in it. and it is professional. from XGames 1 to XGAMES 7 they had an event called snowlerblading which was indeed snow blading in a half pipe. but so what if skiers don't like them and its unpopular for skiers. just do what you love

Motocross kidney belt for snowboarding?

Snowboarding was incredibly unpopular with skiers when it started, and obviously things have changed. There's definitely a resistance to things that are different, but if you can go out there and nail some sick lines, then I suppose they'll feel a bit of jealousy. I do have to agree with the others in regards to the heightened risk of injury though, so be careful.

I just had my girlfriends bindings mounted on her skis and?

You can't ski powder!! Most decent skiiers relish the opportunity to ski that nar nar pow pow. It is also really weird to ski bumps in those things. Mostly, they just look really odd, but if you enjoy them and you like skiing the groomers... snowblade off into the sunset, by all means.

Can you use use an ipod on an Red Tantrum Audex Helmet or do you need a phone that plays mp3?

Snowblading is more popular on the east coast, while being almost non existant on the west coast due to the difference in snow conditions. Snowblades do not have the flotation of a big mountain ski and also do not allow for balance, speed, carving ability, or any other reason why more advanced skiers spend more money on better skis. Not to mention you just look like a gaper with them on. If you are a beginner skiing the icy slopes of the mid-atlantic have at it, but if you are out west you'll sink into the pow the second you stray from a groomer.
