Does anyone have feedback on the 2007 Burton Elite snowboard?

I'm an intermediate. An Elite is running for $179 as the season nears an end N. Cali. I would like some feedback from anyone who has first hand experience.

Answers:

How big of a snowboard do I need?

The Elite is considered a beginner board but supposedly a little better and more of an all-around board than the Clash (well thats how they market them). They both have an extruded base and I wouldn't get that base.

I would get something a little more advanced like the Royale or Air. Well I don't know your style of riding. If you have enough money, then I hear good things about the Custom and Baron.

Check out their website: http://www.burton.com/boards.aspx?g=men...

I saw the other day some Ride boards on sale for $200-$225 (Dose, Decade, Timeless) which I would certainly spend the extra $25-$50 for over the Burton Elite.

Why is skiing deemed to sport of the rich? Would you agree? If not, why not?

the board is kinda still but if you are just using it for slopestyle and just riding around on the terrain then the board is perfect for you. but if you where more into freestyle, and hitting jumps and rails then you would want a Burton Clash.

Any good tips for a beginner in snowboarding? :-)?

The 2007 Elite has exactly the same shape & dimensions as the 2007 Burton Custom (the jibby one). The price difference is due to the lower quality materials used in the core and edge. It is also slightly heavier.

Can you help me find a bigger picture?

I've been riding since 1988. I'm no master at the 1/2 pipe, but I cane bomb any trail on the mountain and hold my own in the terrain park. I ride a 2007 Burton Elite 155. $179 on that deck is a good deal. Like some else said, the Elite is almost exactly like the Custom. Check the "compare" option at Burton.com. The Elite is basically a "budget board." If your cash flow is tight, the Elite a great board to get. If money is not an obsitcle, go for someting made with a better base, etc. (Air, Custom, etc.). It also depends on where yourt going to be doing most of yoru riding. While the Elite is a good all-mountain board (what I use it for), if you *just* going to be riding the park, you may want something a bit more flexible. The Burton site also has a questionaire that will direct you to the best type of board to get based on your weight, shoe size, ability, terrain, cash flow, etc...
