Buying a snowboard?
Question:I'm thinking about buying a board. I was looking into Burton Air, which can be purchased for about $280 online. I consider myself to be a beginner/intermediate snowboarder. I haven't got to the point where I can hit the park yet. That's why I'm deciding to buy Burton Air. But is there any other board by other company that is similar to Burton but cheaper in price? My budget is only $350. Thank you for all the answers.
p.s. I'm looking for a board that is 151-153 cm long and I wear a size 8 boots.

Where can i get old and/or broken snowboards or skis?
Burton makes nice boards, but so do other companies. Think of Burton as the Nike of snowboarding - a lot of the money you're paying is just for the name. Check out Rome, Ride, GNU, Lib Tech, Palmer, Forum, Head, Option... I'm sure there are some others that aren't springing to mind, but you get the gist. My point being is that you can get a board that's just as good, if not better, for less. That's not to say that Burton doesn't make a quality board, but if you're still getting started, there's no sense dropping a bunch of money on a board when you could get one for less. Save some of that money and get high quality boots. Why is Curling a topic an LaCrosse isn't?
Brandon is totally correct that with Burton equipment most of the cost is in buying the brand and not the product. If you are unsure on which boards to get then ask different snowboard shops if they have demo boards so you can try out a specific board before buying it since once you buy a board and use it you can't return it. Most shops will put the demo fee towards to purchase price of the board if you buy a new one of the demo board you tried. You can also call local ski areas and see if there are any demo days schedules where shops will bring out equipment people can try for a few runs then try something else.
If you go about this method and find a few boards that you like then try to shop around at the end of the season when shops wants to get rid of all their equipment so they don't have to store it away for the summer. They will usually have some pretty good discounts that a board that seemed to expensive before will now fit your budget.
You can try E-bay...here are some search results try different keywords and you might find more! Good Luck!
