Do you prefer to go snowboarding or skiing? And why?

If you like tricks and air, then snowboarding is the way to go. I've tried boarding a few times, and enjoy it, but prefer skiing.

The thing I've observed is when coming down a beautiful powdered filled run off the top of Mammoth, the snowboarders are falling all over the place. Then they are struggling to get up because their hands fall through the deep powerder. I once estimated only 1 out of 10 made it down without eating it. Meanwhile, all the skiiers seemed to be having a blast, making awesome turns, and just skiing it up.

So I guess it depends on what you like to do, steep powder or tricks?

How can I try to sky at home?!?

I prefer to go skiing. New snowboarders push the good powder off the slope when they are trying to slow down, and it makes me mad!!

If you have the drive and dedication to be a good snowboarder, that is good. I applaud good snowboarders. I've skied all my life and have decided not to burden my ski friends with yet another young idiot snowboarder that has no clue what they are doing. If you plan on actually seeing the mountain, please be a skier because snowboarders on the challenging runs do nothing but scrape off good snow that I want to rip. I'm perfectly happy if the good snowboarders ride the diamonds, but the mediocre/intermediate need to stay in the park or in the green circles! Off my mountain!

So basically I love skiing but respect good boarders. There. :)

I do not have any onbejtions against people in the out season, but on the slopes... snowboarders really frustrate me. All they do is sit in groups on the green slopes and block traffic, and when they do go on the black diamonds, they take off all the good powder... such a waste!
If you have ever skied some serious stuff in the American West, Europpean Alps, Andes mountains or Himalayas, you will know that skiing is God's sport...

Whos ready for snowboarding season?

I prefer to ski. Two points of contact on the snow allow you to have much more stability. Also, you can generate speed through the use of poles and skating. In my opinion this allows you to go faster most of the time (which I like). Flat-land mobility is also a definite plus. Snowboarding has its fun points too though.

I'd have to say snowboarding...heres some goods and bads...
GOODS!!
1. When i was 4, i broke my leg in 3 places skiing...been snowboarding ever since.
2. You have alot more fun.
3. You get to do alot more tricks.
4. To me your in more control.

BADS...
1. It takes more learning sessions to..well...learn stuff.
2. All the evil skiiers tend to ski on the front or back of our board when they turn.
3. when you get off the lift, instead of just going down like skiiers you have to put on the other binding of your snowboard.

SKIING.
1.. Much easier to learn
2.. I know of no resorts that say "Snowboarders Only"
3.. I know of several resorts that say "No Snowboards"
4.. I am a guy (older guy), and most girls my age ski rather than board
5.. and my #1 reason I prefer skiing: I am a good intermediate skier and I CAN'T snowboard.

Skiing. I'm in more control. I learned to ski since I was in preschool. I get better every year. My friend is an awesome skier. He does both actually. He can get a lot of air too. Really fun pics to see.

when u put on skis, u need to keep your legs together..i tried that and my legs just wanted to go in opposite directions. it was so difficult.
also, if u r into riding rails, i've seen skiers hit their groin when the legs split, but snowboarders only hit their groin if the rail is in front of them. Ouch!

i can do both and snowboarding is quite fun, but i am better at skiing so i prefer it
