Curling is our life's blood. Some curlers start when they are very young, and I know that some schools have a team, but not all. They have Junior tournaments, and a lot of these kids turn out to be champions later on in the adult world. We have 'heros and heroines' - ladies teams are cheered on by all of Canada just as much as the men's. It is a wonderful team sport - there is more camaraderie amongst curlers than any other sport.Is there a category for skateboarding?
it certainly is popular here because for goodness sakes, winter can last up to 8 months here! as well, since Sandra Schmirler won the Olympic gold the first time it was an official event, women have been particularly involved. Sandra was a hero in sports and then she unfortunately lost another hard-fought battle with cancer and so we try to follow in her footsteps and bring honour to a great sport!When are the Winter Olympics on?
Growing up we always curled and had Curling Bon Spiels. It was pretty big in both my elementary and high school.I think most people know the general rules in Canada, but some probably don't know all the details.
How do I maintain balance and get air when taking a snowboard jump?
The interest is growing. I curled last year for the first time and loved it. Watching it on t.v. was boring because I never tried it. Now that I have tried it, it is exciting to watch on t.v. People should go out during an open house and try it. A lot of people enjoy it once they have tried it. They do need to bring the costs of sports down. It is a sport that you can pick the level you want to play at. I walked away with two first place teams last year. Our club allows you to play as many times a week you want for one price. More clubs need to be that way.Watching ice hockey or playing it!?
