Does anyone have any tips for finding a lost ring in the snow?

We lost a white gold ring in a big field of snow while having a snow ball fight. We're having trouble finding a metal detector to rent, and we're running out of sunlight. Any tips?

Without a huge bit of luck, you are out of luck. As a skier, I have seen people lose an entire SKI, know about where it is, and still come up empty.

You have a ring, in a big field of snow. Plus it is trampled down now. Best you might hope for is to somehow mark the spot with flags or stones or something and come back after the snow melts. At the same time, make sure to post fliers in the area if it is a public place so people can call it in if they find it.

The problem you will have if you wait till the snow melts is the ground will soften, and the ring will be absorbed by the ground. Make sure to resume your hunt BEFORE the ground thaws, but after the snow is gone.

Good luck!
