Racing skis?
What is the difference between recreational skis and racing skis? Are racing skis much harder to use. Its my first time racing, will i be able to control them? (by the way i am just doing slalom)
Answers:
You will want to train on them first, before you race them.
Will they be harder to use? Yes. The good old fashioned rec ski (I'm assuming you have a shaped, parabolic) turn practically automatically. The racing ski not so much. Your coach should be working with you on form, but your body positioning will need to be much more aggressive and exaggerated in racing conditions as opposed to just free-skiing.

Race skis are much stiffer. I am a ski racer myself. Volkl are the stiffest. I have demoed a lot of different race skis while I was at Mt. Hood for a race camp. Fischers are more flexible and so are Elans. But you have to get a much lower, and athletic stance while racing. You also have to really press your legs against your boots in order to really get your skis to do what you want them to. Good Luck!well my friends dad came third in slalom in oreegon in college and i asked him the differences and they are:
1. the edges r cut differently to make the turning easier
2. the wieght is put into different spots
well those r all i remember but i dont think their harder to control but im sure u can find a website were u can ask questions
Whats the name of ski run with a vertical fifteen drop with giant moguls in california?
Racing skis are great! They have more stability then rec skis. It doesn't matter what you want to do just realize that if you have slalom skis that you don't want to be doing any fast skiing but would rather go a little bit slower and control your short turns. Later in the season you could borrow or lend skis from the shop in order to ski fasterMore Questions & Answers...
