Snowboarding: do i have an advantage?

Question:hi guys,
im going snowboarding in a week and im getting exited. ive never even been skiing before so im really nervous.
i am wondering will i be able to pick it up easily or will it be trickier than i thought.
i skate and i pick things up really easily eg. ice skating (havent fallen over yet)
but im not sure if im getting ahead of myself. my board is going to be rented so i dont even know if i will be able to chose it. what should i get? im hoping to get into tricks like skating so whats the best?
im going to austria (soll) and booked with direct ski.

you should have an adavnatge if you already know how to skate and surf, but ill admit, snowboarding is challenging at first, i skate and surf and spent the first half of the day on my ***, but all of a sudden it will click and you wont fall hardly at all.
good luck, youll be fine, just keep in mind that everyone falls, so dont get discouraged, o and remember just go with the fall, dont try to stop yourself with your arms, you can really hurt yourself.

Austria... Soll... good boarding... I'm in germany, been down to Austria, and switzerland. But yeah snowboarding isn't as hard as everyone says... least not for me. I dont skate or surf, and I picked it up quick. But like the person above said... we ALL fall at first...just lay down into it, you'll be fine... tricks... eh, maybe you'll pick it up fast, but I wouldn't go trying anything your first time out. I've been boarding for 10 years, took me till my 3rd year out before I was doing anything like a 540 and a backflip. But feel free to try hitting some jumps!! just be careful

skateboarding will help you too a certain point

it means you have your balence already big help but thats about as far as it goes

there are also alot of disadvantages to skateboarding first mainly your posture but its not too big a deal if yer just out there for the fun off it

you will doo awesome though soo don't worrie and if you fall you fall it happens :P
