Depends on the level of hockey. I canadian minor hockey it is a gross misconduct for removing your helmet to fight. It is a match penalty if you use the helmet to inflict punishment on the opposing player. A fight is 5 mins for fighting and game misconduct. JR A (at least the BCHL) has a two fight rule. 0ne player can have two fights in the same game before being ejected. In pro levels players can and usually do remove their helmets before figting.Hockey players where are you!?
