Reasonable housing in Park City, UT?
I've been in your shoes (or should i say skates lol) it took me 1 and a half years to land my axel please don't let this happen to you! for me it made me fall behind all my friends that used to be in the same level as me it sounds like it's all in ur head. that's how it was for me because the first time i landed it it was beautiful it wasn't gradual i knew how to land it way before i actually did it. so wut you need to do is ask yourself is what's more important not falling on ur butt and having to deal with a bruise for a few days or landing this axel and not falling behind your friends you might also try doing an axel toe- loop or an axel loop adding a jump to the end of ur axel helps you to land on the right foot and not put your other foot down the first time i landed an axel it was an axel-looptalk to my gf shes a competitive figure skater in cleveland
How hard is it to learn to ski?
ask your coachget over your fears -i know it's hard
I'm not a figure skater, but is it something you can practice NOT on the ice? Like, I've seen footage before of gymnasts who practive flips in stuffs with ropes/bungee cords tied to them to basically prevent them from falling right on their heads. Is there anyway you can practice trying to do it, but in a safe way? Try that to build up your confidence when attempting in the ice. Might sound silly, but just twisting around in your socks on the living room carpet might just do the trick. Good luck.
ask who ever helps u with it and tri not to panic
Who is the better skater, Sasha Cohen or Michelle Kwan?
I used to have that problem, but then I just pictured myself at a big competition and if I attempted my axel then I would win, and that would motivate me enough to do it. Also try doing from a little bit slower until you land it and then you can start going faster. Also you could try telling someone "I'll pay you a dollar if I don't attempt this" and that makes me do jumps even if I'm scared
I'm lookin to start snowboarding!?
Keep remembering to yourself that you are an awesome skater and that you can do this. Also, you can ask your coach if she will let you use the ice harness. Good luck!i do the same thing for my back loop and then when i finally do it i get less woried and more confident. keep practicing on and off ice and do the walk through or however u say it and then when u land u won't be as woried. i always luv it when i land my loop perfectly cuz i know i did it and i did good.
Does anybody own a burton phantom snowboard jacket? is it any good?
I used to do the exact same thing. My coach would put me in the harness we have at our local rink, and the entire lesson would consist of mejumping into the air and pulling in and landing until I had a perfect axel on the harness. Then she would take me off of it and have me stand on one of the lines on the ice and do a waltz jump into a back spin from a standstill. Then she would have me try an axel. After I'd done this over and over for weeks and weeks, I became confidant and doing an axel became natural. It takes as long as three years. It took me only a year to get mine. You just have to be patient. Ask your coach about using a harness or try doing a waltz jump into a backspin. They both help tremendously.you seem to be over thinking it... trust yourself and dont pop your jump...set up, take your step (kinda out of your circle), bend knee, arms back, launch yourself and bring it in...do not release your arms from your body until you hit the ice... just stay all together until you land... you might 2 foot it a bunch of times.. but better that than popping it and not rotating at all... eventually you will get the feel and then you will know what to do... also if your club has a jumping harness try using one of those with your coach to help get the feel of the axel! good luck!
