Need warm winter coat for my son?
We are moving from Georgia to Germany and I am looking for a new coat for my son. There are so many choices. I have been looking at Columbia and L.L. Bean but there are so many. Does anyone know what is best (ie. Vertex vs Techtonite and so on)

The key to warmth is layers. have you thought about a down liner? I'm really happy with my Spider brand coat. I love LL bean, but I have problems with their arm lengths. I'm a woman who is 5'8" and am well proportioned for my height. If your son is tall he may not be happy with the arms length. Try The North Face... I like their coats as well. Also REI is a good brand for warm winter wear. as for vertex and techtonite I agree with the above commentAny snowboarders out there missing the snow like i am?
Living in Maine I am a little biased but I say go with LL Bean. They have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Go with the hardier coats they are thicker and warmer. They are also water resistant which will come in handy in Europe. You may want to consider one that has a removable liner.Avoid the so called "thinsulate" coats they are lousy in the cold (below about 30* F.)
Whatever you get expect to spend $80 - $130 for a good coat.
