How important is ankle strength in snowboarding? I have weak ankles?
I was thinking of weightlifting to strengthen them, focussing on the calves and using free weights while doing mild aerobics. I also thought about more biking and walking.

Ankle strength is very important u have the board on your your boots and a lot of the times you have to use your ankes to turn or land to absorb some shock of the landingThose are good options, as well as swimming. Since you like winter sports you should try ice skating as well, that really improve my strength. ;)

I guess I'm the minorty on this one but i don't think ankle strengh is very important at all. Correctly fitted boots and binding should almost totally keep your ankles/feet imoblie. The toe rasies are the way to go but if you have bad ankles don't ice skate. Work the quads, all the stress in snowboarding is in squats and leg presses.More Questions & Answers...
