Stretches...?

I need some stretches for my back, arms and legs especially. Also, how often do I need to stretch? And should I stretch before I get on the ice? Thanks!

How come if im the best skier at the mountain i ski at and im not sponsored yet?

Standard disclaimers about stretching:

Always warm up your muscles before stretching;
Stretch gently before you skate, and again (more aggressively) after you skate.
Hold each stretch for at least 20 seconds to really get the benefit.
If it really hurts, STOP. A bit uncomfortable is okay, pain is a no-no.

Here's an outstanding site for stretching exercises:

Stretch EVERY day as well as before/after skating if you really want improvement.
Stretch out on the rink wall before doing spirals or lunges.

You can also ask your dance/skating coach for some stretching exercises.

An exercise ball is really good for stretching your back and legs - there are a number of roll up/down exercises that use the back muscles.

What is that thing that you ride to get up a mountain?

i don't know exactally how you should stretch cuz everyone's different, but stretch after you get out of the shower cuz the warm water will relax your muscles and it'll stretch out easier.

What Ski-clothing to i need?

YOu should do some gentle streches before skating if you are stiff. Just make sure that you warm up first. jump in place, jog from one side if the rink to the other etc.

After you skate, or do any excersie you should really spend time to strech all of you muscles groups. Do foward bends, try your splits, ifyou can't do them yet, do a pigeon postion http://www.getrolling.com/orbit/images/p... in yoga that steches the hip flexors and the back leg as in a split strech with a ballet bare' ifyou can. or a counter top. If your mom or sombosy can help you strech out your spirals that it great. ifyou are alone, do assitaned spirals "nancy Kerrrigan" http://www.frogsonice.com/skateweb/pictu... then release and try to keep the leg in the same position. DOn't forget back bends and box splits, reaching with the arms to either side. Good luck and have fun skating.

What will be the weather for Kirkwood (ski resort) the wk. of 2/6-9?

Everyone here has already given you some good advice . . . but here are my two cents:

Do warm up your muscles before stretching . . . even if it's to do a light jog in place.

Try to do your stretches in a warm area if possible - it's not a good idea to stretch on the ice if you are fresh on the ice and freezing (you can pull a muscle as you're trying to stretch cold muscles that are tensed up). If you're already plenty warmed up, then ice stretching is fine.

Stretch your muscles from head to toe if possible - not just your upper body.

Remember to breath when you stretch. Learning yoga can help with this (not to mention yoga can teach you excellent and safe stretching methods).

Stretch before skating . . . and if you can stretch a little after skating (shake out those sore muscles!). You'll find you are more flexible AFTER skating.

It's good to keep stretching on the days you are off the ice, but don't over do it. Your body does need to rest . . . to repair and re-energize.

Hope that helps!
