How do I carve while snowboarding?
I love snowboarding. Even though I only been snowboarding about 5-6 times I caught on very quick my first day. still haven't been able to carve however. I can plow to slow down and change directions, but I want to be able to lose the whole "plow" technique and become that great snowboarder I think I can be. =) Please help. I'm going snowboarding again in about 1 week. =)

totally agree with above person... you need to learn to point the board down the mountain, don't be too afraid of falling, snow doesn't hurt (much), and since you know how to "plow" you should be able to stop if you think you are going too fast. But definitely TAKE A LESSON, (not just one lesson, take many until you are happy with your progress), it will help 100% , and the instructor will teach you how to turn on a snowboard correctly. You'll learn to be a great snowboarder much faster with an instructor rather than trying to teach yourself.Have you taken a lesson? It sounds like you don't know how to turn from your heels to your toes (pointing the board straight down the hill in between), and vice-versa. That's step one. Then you need to link turns, meaning doing like 4 turns back-to-back without falling down.
After that, you're still not carving, though. Carving is an advanced technique of turning where you hold your edge throughout the turn and don't slide at all- think eurocarvers, on carving boards, with hard boots and spandex suits.. Just keep trying, you'll get it.
Where do people go to snow ski in the state of Texas?
you'll wanna start on your heel edge. just lightly lean on your heel and it will slightly turn you to your left if your normal footed and right if your goofy. your toe edge is a little trickier. you want to practice it at low speeds and at first only turn VERY lightly. another way to practice your edges is doing the falling leaf. to do this you start doing the plow thing either on your heel or toe edge and then put one foot down hill. shortly after, you return to plowing then put the other foot down hill and return to plowing and so on and so forthJust lean front and backward, while going relatively fast. Dont slide your rear foot to initiate the turn. Your gonna fall alot.
