What are the differences between ski poles and snowshoe poles?
My wife and I recently bought snowshoes, and she thought it would be a good idea to use poles to begin with. She is a big skier and is going to use her ski poles, but I do not ski and was wondering if they make specific poles for snowshoeing? If so, what are the differences?

Can someone explain what numbers such as 1, top 12 or back 8 mean when sweeping.?
ski poles are regularly smaller than snow shoe poles but it dosen't really matter that much it might be smart to use the ski poles she has because thre isn't a big differance but i guess for you what ever is cheapestI am sure you understand the purpose of snowshoes , metal or wood framework with interwoven straps that is attached to a boot and allows the wearer to walk on snow without sinking.
The only time I have seen poles used while snowshoeing is to probe the ground ahead of you for possible sink holes.
I live in the high Northern regions of the mid artic and we do not use poles when we snowshoe.
Peace
