If this is your first board, you should detune the tip and tail, thats the first thing you need to do.

I was told by a professional snowboarder you should wax every two or three times...It also depends on the conditions. There is warm, cold and all temp wax..you need to put the right wax on to get the greatest benefit from it..

You also need to buy a wax scraper, a Scotchbrite pad and a gummy or diamond stone to get the burrs out of the edges. Instead of buying a waxing iron, you can just put wrap some aluminum foil around the iron so the wax doesnt go into the holes..An alternative to that is what I did, go on ebay and buy a heat sealing iron (a company is Wells)..Its like a plastic toy iron and sells for at most 15 bucks where as waxing irons sell for like 70. Works the same.

You need to get the burrs out of the edges first before you wax by rubbing the gummy or diamond stone over where it is rough on the edges of the board. Just softly roll your finger on the edge, if there are no rough spots you dont need to do it.

Now Waxing.
First:
Plug in your iron and set it so that its hot enough to readily melt the wax, but not so hot that the wax smokes. Hold the iron perpendicular to your snowboard with the pointed side down. Press the wax bar against the hot iron and hold it there. As the wax drips, move the iron up and down the base of your board until you have stripes of dripped wax 1 to 2 inches apart. Set the wax aside.

Second:
Now iron in all that wax until the base of your board is fully covered. Keep the iron moving; leaving it in one area for too long can damage the snowboard.

Third:
Turn off the iron and wait 15 to 20 minutes for the wax to set and cool. Now grab the scraper and scrape off any excess wax in a nose to tail motion. Scraping away all the wax may sound counter-productive, until you realize that a hot wax actually opens up the pores in a snowboard's base where you want wax to go. Excess wax will only slow you down.

Finally:
After scraping, rub the scotchbrite pad in a nose to tail motion to take off the last of the wax and give your board a finishing touch. You are now ready to ride.

You should also hot wax your board once or twice when the season is over..This helps to not let mositure into the pores of the wood and keeps the base fresh..If the base starts turning white thats what is happening.

Is it cheaper to rent skis near denver or rent from dallas? how much are rentals normally?

u just get board wax and rub it all over the bottum of the board. it's really easy just make sure it's all even, meaning there isn't any clups of wax. I hope this helped :]

Tips on landing an axel??

you could..
1) take your board to ski/snowboard shop to get it waxed
2) buy wax for your snowboard and use an iron to melt it and then spread it on your board
3) buy a snowboard wax that can be rubbed on that does not require melting the wax
4) you should read the info on this site for more info: http://www.abc-of-snowboarding.com/snowb...

How can i teach myself to do a waltz jump (on ice skates) without lessons for it?

i do mine like every 3 days i go up. i think you're thinking of quickwaxing. if you use paste wax or some other form of quickwax you have to reapply every 10 runs. to do this you simply rub the quickwax on the bottom of the board. to HOT wax, which lasts about 3 days of snowboarding, and is what i prefer to do, get some all temp hot wax ($3-5/ bar). this bar should last 2 - 3 waxes. i only get 2. next get an iron. a snowboard hot wax iron is preferred, but and old clothes iron will do. set the iron on very low (high enough that the wax melts, but low enough it doesn't smoke). drip the wax onto the base by touching the wax to the iron and holding it a foot or so over the board. try and get it spread evenly. then put the iron onto the base of the board (still on a very low setting) and keep it moving. DO NOT LEAVE IT IN ONE SPOT VERY LONG!! do this until your board has basically one sheet of wax. let it dry about 20 minutes. next, you'll need a wax scraper ($6+). use this to scraper to scrape of ALL of the excess wax. the reason you do this is because your board is made of a porous material. when you wax these pores fill with wax and make the board slipperier. any wax outside these pores will just slow you down. once you think its all of , buff the base with one of those pads (i forget what they're called, but a boardshop can tell you, and sometimes they're even included with the wax). if this doesn't reveal any extra wax you're done, if it does pick up the scraper again and scrape it off, and use the pad to reveal any more wax until its all gone

What do you wear under snowboard pants?

1. Lay your board flat on a table so the base (the bottom) is facing upwards.

2. Clean the base with a damp cloth.

3. Take a warm iron (not hot) and rub snowboard wax on warm part of the iron so the wax drips onto the base.

4. Drip enough wax to liberally cover the base of the board.

5. Let the wax dry.

6. Take a solid piece of plastic and scrape the excess wax off the base. Scrape from the nose of the board to the back.

7. Go riding.!!
