Should i continue?

Question:well, we're not that totally rich so its hard for my parents to support my financial needs when it comes to skating. I know ice skating is an expensive sport but i really love skating but we really dont have enough money.

when the time come that i should stop skating, my tears fell from my eyes and i cry for almost 3 days. Right now im still crying. I cannot help but cry because accepting the reality that
i will never skate again is hard for me. WHAT SHOULD I DO TO EASE THE PAIN? SHOULD I STILL CONTINUE SKATING?

Answers:

What are the three positions called when riding a snowboard?

I know how that can be I almsot cry thinking about quiting skating.
To help so you still can skate...
get into a group like Kidsport that help pay for people that have trouble paying for any sport activity
If you help teach little kids to skate at your club ask to be able to get a bit off your coaching bill since you help
or you could just go to free public skating sessions and skate there...
Try not to be sad even though your situation is VERY difficult their are some people in the world that face even harder things :)
and to ease pain eat lots of chocolate (always helps me), watch a funny or your favorite movie, get a friend to be with, take a nice bubble bath, play a game (computer, board game, with people, game system)...anything that you think will make you happy
Hope you figure this out

HeLP..!!?

I'm sorry that you are having a hard time skating. If you parents fell like you can't continue I know that you probably can find something else to do that you enjoy that is less expensive. Is there a way that you could help pay for skating? Are you old enough to be able to get some type of job? I know how hard it can be to to have to quit skating...I've had to do it after having knee surgery and having complications from it, and now even though I'm probably well enough to skate my parents don't really want me to skate, and I have a very hard time. I've began to do other things which has helped me feel a little better, but I know how hard it is. You can e-mail me if you would like.

Is Bansko the next best ski destination?

I'm really sorry that you are having financial problems.
Skating is an all-consuming sport. Something that may help is if you get a job, (if you are old enough.) And if you are not old enough to get a real job, do it the tried and true way... lemonade stands, yard sales, babysitting, lawn mowing... anything you can get your hands on. I have to fund my own skating also, but I like it. It makes me feel responsible, like this is MY thing and I'm doing it for myself. (My parents do help out though.) It would make me cry for days also if I had to quit skating. Just stay strong and DON'T GIVE UP! Hey, you may never make it to the Olympics or World's but just skate for the fun of it if that is all you can afford. (That's what I do.) Hope this helped!

Is Arroyo Valley high school in san bernardino california any good at sports?

if you really want to continue that badly, you should try to find a way. and even if you can't right now, you can always come back to it, maybe when you get a job.
also you could try skating at public skates. they're much, much cheaper than ice reserved for figure skaters, and you can usually still practice figure skating stuff in the middle of the ice.
even if you have to stop taking lessons, you should really try to keep practicing.

if there's no way you can continue skating right now, maybe you should take your mind off it and think about something fun and awesome that you can do instead of skating.

hope you can find a way to keep skating, but whether you do or not, best wishes with everything!

Skiing in Montana?

Should you continue to skate? Sure, if you can. But I think you are asking HOW you can continue to skate . . . as I know money is tight for your parents.

I don't know your age or your situation, but I hope you can find a way to still be apart of the skating community . . . and perhaps still be able to skate SOMEHOW. I don't know if you are of age to be able to have a job, but maybe your local rink would allow a trade . . . if you worked this much time in the office or skate shop or help out with the little ones in a group class, maybe you can trade for some ice time.

I know it's hard when a financial decision about something is in your parent's hands. I wonder if there is a chore you can do around the house for your parents . . .maybe they would let you skate once a week or something instead of giving you an allowance?

But if you find there is absolutely nothing you can do to be able to get on the ice . . . don't give up yet.

You can work on a lot of stuff off the ice . . . so when you get back to the ice (and you WILL go back sometime, I know it), you will be in shape and it won't be like starting over. You can work on your flexibility . . . stretches, yoga. You can work on stamina . . . like bike riding (almost same muscles as ice skating). Artistry . . .like dance (hey, I've put on the radio and started choreographing stuff on the floor). And off ice exercises you can probably find free online or in books. You can do a lot of things related to skating. If your parents can afford one last thing for you, maybe you can get some rollerblades or the roller-pic (I think that's what it's called) so you can skate for FREE on the ground . . . it's a bit different than ice skating . . . but better than nothing.

So sorry you have to go through this . . . I hope you find a way to go back soon . . . in the meantime . . .do not lose hope!

Why the he** is everyone hating on the black guy Shanee(sp?) Davis. First eva black speed skater to win (more)

Anna,

When there is a will, there is a way. Especially if you are talented, and you will only find out if you try. I assume you want to skate competitively (and train seriously). Otherwise, public skating and skate rental fee or buying decent skates shouldn't be too expensive (many nice used skates are reasonably priced too).

Some friends of mine who have similar situation with you (and some just 2 or 3 years older than you), they get a job at the ice rink (work at the cafetaria, assisting the coach in teaching young kids on basic skills class), and in return they get some pay and free skate at the rink and major discount (50%+) on skating lessons. See if you can negotiate for this kind of deals which should help a lot.

Also try to buy used dress and used skates to save money (it's better to used skates that is decent quality than a new skates that has bad quality/ankle support etc)

But if your parents tell you to stop skating, then you have to talk to them first and explain to them that this is really what you wanted and what makes you happy (your passion) and tell them to give you time and if you don't show enough progress then you can give up competitive skating (and just do public/recreational skating which is still fun)

Crying is fine as it will help ease the pain (but don't do it for 3 days in a row). You can also try to listen to music, read books or go to the ice rink for a public skating session. That should help to cheer you up.
I want you to know that whatever happens, you will still be fine. Plus, skating is not everything there is to life, though you might feel that way now.
Last but not least, Pray. that will definitely help too.

A friend of mine often says "Reach the stars!" and I agree.
I think you should not quit skating (at least not until you find out whether you have the talent and determination to be successful at the sport)

All the best!

What are the places called where you could Ski, Snowboard or Snowtube? Urgent.?

I know that it is not the same but you could skate publicly. Or try talking to your skating club maybe they can find a way to help you pay in smaller amount thou out the season. Or if you are high enough talk to the couch and maybe you could help coach and have the club reduce you fee for you to help coach.

Forum team video That?

If crying will make u feel better, then cry all ur pains out. But u should understand ur situation in life. If skating is really for u and u really love it, then u should wait until ur on the right age to have jobs so even if ur parents can support u, u can still support urself. U can do activities that is close to ur heart until u forget skating but don't give up. Everything will happen in GOD'S time.

What is a good snowboard goggle for someone who wears perscription glasses?

Awww. I know it's disappointing, right? 13's a little young to get a "real" job - most places won't hire people under 16 because of the Federal employment laws. The lemonade stand, babysitting, newspaper route, and jewelry-making ideas are all valid ways for a 13-year old to make some spending money.

You can save your allowance and gift monies to put towards skating. If your Auntie asks what you'd like as a gift, you could say a public session card. Try to show your parents that you're not just taking their money - that you appreciate how expensive skating is and how hard it is to save money for the sport.

Could you give up some other activity, in the interest of continuing to skate? Check out the rink's group lesson program - they're usually less expensive than private lessons. Some rinks offer discounts on public sessions and freestyles if you buy more than one at a time.

Don't stop skating - that's just giving up. Try to get to public sessions and keep up your skills. Hugs to you!

Snowboarding companies?

Okay im sorry , I understand your situation. I was in a similar situation but, heres what you do.

If your parents want you to stop b'cause they cant afford it, try a sponsor.

If they want you to stop and have no reason tell them you really love this sport.

Dont stop skating b'cause you cant afford it, you will regret that decision all your life if you do. Try having different family members picth in to have you figure skate. I know its expensive but you can do it. in the meantime DONT STOP SKATING... keep going to the rink and practicing.

If you love it s much as you say you do then keep doing it.
