Why are long skiis faster than shorter skiis. Are skiis faster than snowboards and why?
Answers:
In comparison, in cross-country skiing the skiis for classic is longer than the ones for skating. But it is the skating skiis that are the faster of the too. This is because a classical ski have to provide for the skier a good grip which a skating ski doesn't. The skating ski is shorter but more stable and build to take up unevenness in the surface better than the classical ski and therefor faster.
How do you use a curling iron?
Longer skis arent always faster. Slolom skis used to always be over 200CM, but now you see some will only come as long as 170ish. GS skis have to be longer because of the course type and skiing style. Stbility of a ski has everything to do with the sidecut, and what the ski is made of. A ski for a beginer will be more flexible so that it is more forgiving, but will be less stable at high speed.A ski for an advanced skier will be more rigid not only in its flex but torsionally, making it a faster, more responsive ski. The base materials also make a big difference in speed. Lower end skis will have a softer base, upper end will have a much harder base. The harder the base, the faster the ski.More Questions & Answers...
