Other than park city what are the best ski areas in salt lake city utah?
Answers:
Go into the canyons.
Big Cottonwood (Brighton and Solitude)
Little Cottonwood (Alta and Snowbird)
Solitude does get good reviews, and they have awesome groomers, and some good technical stuff (Honeycomb)...but hands down, Alta is the bomb. You read the others, and it is so.
Snowbird a close second. I ski Alta because it is lower key than Snowbird - people ski Alta to ski, not to be seen. There are some sickos that rip insane lines at Alta. Plus, no boarders to scrape the freshies off.
I've never been there but Solitude is listed as a top ten in both the Powder Category and in the Best Kept Secrets Category, so it sounds good to me!

What are the best skis for a 12-year-old?
Snowbird is a great tourist location for plenty of reasons.1. The village is fantastic: Imagine the perfect out-west village. Quaint, cozy, large (for a village) and filled with all types of intersting shops.
2. The mountain is great: The mountain can suit the needs of any skiier.
3. It's never too crowded
Empire State Games in Lake Placid New York.?
The best pure skiing only area near Salt Lake City is definiely Alta! No boarders allowed and they consistently receive over 530 inches of snow annually! Also, right next door to Alta (1 mile) is Snowbird which tends to be more oriented toward good intermediate or above skiers or snowboarders. Additionally, Brighton and Solitude are good options as they are located next to each other (1.5 miles apart), but their trails tend to be shorter (in general) than Snowbird or Alta. PS: Park City (PC, The Canyons & Deer Valley) all have the most expensive lift tickets (about $75 each)! He's right, Alta is hands down the best. I would do the joint alta/snowbird connection ticket. Head on over and check out the mineral basin bowl at the summit of snowbird, then once you get sick of the boarders, ski right back over to alta for pure skiing! Then when you need a good meal and a nice easy day of great skiing head on over to deer valley, again no boarders, big plus. Enjoy man.
