Had some family issues. Believe the death of his sister, so he could his release. Then afterwards he wanted back in wrestling, but didn't want to go back to WWE. I think he also had some health issues of his own. Got addicted to some pain pills I believe it was.

He then went and signed with TNA when he decided he wanted to come back.On August 26th 2006, Kurt Angle left the wwe due to "personal reasons" btu then less than a month later he signed for TNA... It is highly believed inside the wrestling community that Angle made up his problems to get out of his wwe contract so he could sign for another brand!!

WWE began to consider Kurt a liability. He had developed an addiction to painkillers and to being in the spotlight. And with his surgically repaired neck (he had broken vertebrae in his neck on five occasions), they felt that he needed to slow down or he could be crippled for life (and possibly end up sueing the WWE).
In October 2006, Angle stated that he temporarily became addicted to the analgesic Vicodin after breaking his neck.
On March 6, 2007, Sports Illustrated reported that Angle's name was found in the client database of a Florida wellness center suspected of being a front for distributing performance-enhancing drugs. The magazine alleged Angle had received prescriptions for trenbolone and nandrolone, both anabolic steroids. Angle claims this was to help with his continuing neck problems.
Basically, WWE wanted Kurt to slow down and take some time off to let his neck heal and get over his drug addiction, then come back refreshed in a year or so. Kurt couldn't stand to be out of the spotlight for so long, so he went and signed with TNA (which has a less strict policy on drug use and the health of it's wrestlers--Notice that this is the same reason Jeff Hardy went to TNA for a while.).

I've heard several theories, but I sure can tell you what his motives weren'tHis motive wasn't money, because if it was, he would've played the game like Rob Van Dam is doing right now and WWE would've eventually caved in to giving him what he wants. TNA can't pay him like WWE, and if it were about money, Kurt would've stuck with the big boys.
It's not drugs. Let's face it, regardless to whatever main eventers like Kurt, Orton, or Edge do backstage they're still going to have a place in the company. If it isn't apparent after the countless dirty antics on Randy's part, then it never will be. I mean, his punishment for misogynistic remarks was being moved to the A-Brand, how messed up is that? If drugs were an issue, and I'm convinced Angle might have a few track marks under the red white and blue *** of that singlet, then Angle would've gotten a slap on the wrist, and possibly moved off of ECW onto Raw where "Vince could keep a closer eye on him."
I've heard very few rumors of a death in the family, but they were scattered and had very little backing. Even if it's true, I doubt it would've been a major part in his decision. It could've been the straw that broke the camel's back, but I'd have to guess that Vince would've given Angle time off if a family member died, after all, he released him for his own well being after Angle requested it...or so he thought.
The one that makes the most sense to me though is Angle was wearing himself down, and he felt this constant wear and tear was being unappreciated and that it wasn't worth it. So, he went somewhere that would treat him like a superstar and offer a not-so-rigorous schedule, even if it means a docked pay, Angle doesn't have to travel every week or even get into the ring every week in TNA...BUT, along with his TNA bookings, Angle signed up for a japanese touring roster, which kind of negates that whole theory as well.
All I know is that I'm scared for Kurt. For the past few months he's been fairly irrational and borderline insane, and I wonder how much of it has to do with pain. He's truly THE best rounder of our or, I'd wager, any generation and he's going to kill himself in the ring if he's not careful, and regardless to if you support his decision, no one wants to see that happen.
