I imagine ROH will thrive, and WWE, unless they take the time over building newer workers slowly (as opposed to just rushing big, green workers up to the main roster, as they are doing a lot now), will be in a far worse state than it is now. Rather than rely on performers whose best days are behind them (Austin, Hogan, Foley), they need to be bringing through people like Orton and Kennedy, and grooming them for long runs at the top.
You will recall that Orton was given the belt, only to have it taken from him because the WWE Creative was too slow in realising that he was not ready for a run at the top. Add to the fact that he was rushed into it - no build up, no chase (WWE should have really made the feud with Orton and Triple H a slow simmering one, culminating with an Orton title win at the following Wrestlemania). The title angle with Batista and Triple H, in this sense, was perfectly executed. It gave Batista some sort of chance to get off to a strong start as Champion.
When it comes to the World titles and building up feuds slowly (the old school mentality) to culminate precisely at Wrestlemania (for the maximum impact), WWE, and the rest of us need to remember: SLOW and STEADY wins the race.
